About Us

Background

As you know, we are living in trying times, with many of our youth losing their faith and feeling more disconnected from religion and from God. Al-hamdulillāh, there are many initiatives that have served and benefited our communities to address these concerns. May Allah make these initiatives successful and a cause for great reward and benefit in this life and the next.

With that being said, we felt there was still a gap that needed to be filled. As you know, one important factor that can heavily influence a person and their lifestyle is community. As lofty as a goal it is to address the community at large head on, we felt we needed to focus our efforts on the most important building block of a community, family.

We all know the significance of family but how many tools and resources do we have to properly start and raise a strong devout family, especially during this unique time and place? The resources that currently exist are often disconnected from one another and often only address the symptoms with treatment as opposed to the cause with prevention. That is why we started SHIELD Families. SHIELD stands for Serving Households by Inspiring Excellence to Live Devoutly.

Mission

Inspired by the verse of the Noble Quran, “O you who believe! Shield yourselves and your families…”, SHIELD Families aims to assist Muslims in properly starting, raising, and sustaining devout families dedicated to the service of God through programs catering to the different stages of family development, i.e. the family cycle: early childhood, pre-adolescence, pre-marriage, marriage, parenthood, and beyond.
